LeRoy Ladner

LeRoy Ladner, age 87, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at Western Prairie Senior Living in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born March 16, 1932, in Springfield, Colorado. After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He served during the Korean Conflict and was awarded the Purple Heart for combat injuries. After Korea, he continued his service in the Marines completing 20 years.
There is a Marine motto stating “Once a Marine, always a Marine.” LeRoy continued this motto even as he and his family returned home to Ulysses where he completed another 20 plus year career as Manager of Gibson’s before retiring.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Beth. He is survived by sons, Dale Ladner and wife Amy of Kansas City, Missouri, and Robert Ladner of Overland Park, Kansas; daughter, Vicki Ladner of Hutchinson, Kansas; and four grandchildren, Ben, Spencer, Nate and Sara.
Graveside service will be Thursday, January 16, 2020, at 11:00 AM at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas, with military rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Friends may call Wednesday, January 15, 2020, from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Arrangements are in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
