Leota Pearl Lybarger

Leota Pearl Lybarger of Elkhart, Kansas, passed away at 5:10 am July 5, 2022, at the Winfield Senior Living Community in Winfield, Kansas. She was born June 16, 1926, in Elk City, Kansas, the daughter of William and LuVerna (Davidson) Warner.

Leota married Robert Lee Lybarger on November 18, 1944, in Elk City, Kansas. She was the pianist at Bible Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Elkhart for 63 years and also gave piano lessons to most of the kids in Elkhart. 

Leota is survived by three daughters, Rebecca Jane Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, Patricia Le Ann Clark and Susan Kay Bennett both of Golden, Missouri; five grandchildren, William Kelley Sims of Amarillo, Texas, Susan Anderson of Portland, Oregon, Janene Beinek of Houston, Texas, Erin Mendenhall of Sterling, Colorado, and Bobby Lybarger of  Edmond, Oklahoma; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee; three sons, Larry Lee Lybarger, Robert Lee Lybarger Jr., and Thomas Lynn Lybarger.  She also lost her grandson, Terry Sims.

Funeral service will be held Friday, July 8, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart with Pastor Ed Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, July 7, 2022, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
