Leonila B. “Nellie” Lopez

Leonila B. “Nellie” Lopez, 86, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Via Christi-St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

She was born May 12, 1936 in Malakoff, Texas to Leandro and Lydia (Barrientos) Bravo. She attended the Technical High School of Ft. Worth, Texas, where she graduated. On April 12, 1959, she married Juan Lorenzo-Lopez in Ft. Worth. Juan passed on June 29, 2007.

Leonila worked as a CNA, and as a nutritionist where she worked from home.

She loved to cook, and was very talented in crocheting and sewing. She was known for making pot holders, beanie hats, scarves and booties.

Leonila is survived by
1 son, Juan Lopez and his wife Stephanie of Northglenn, Colorado.

4 Daughters
Jeannette Estrada and her husband Victor of Mexia, Texas
Rosie Gallegos and her husband Ronnie of Liberal, Kansas
Nathalia Perez and her husband Ruben of Liberal, Kansas
Lydia Arguello of Northglenn, Colorado

4 brothers; Leandro Bravo Jr., Ben Bravo, Gilbert Fuentes and Armando Guevara.

1 sister, Lydia Arangua
20 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, with 3 on the way.

She is now rejoicing with the Lord and her family; her husband, Juan Lopez, her daughter Lyvia Valle, her parents Leandro and Lydia, her step-father Mario Calzoncit and her son-in-law Phillip Argello.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 9am to 8pm, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W 2nd Street, Liberal, KS 67901.
Funeral services will be at 11 am, Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.
Interment to follow at Liberal Cemetery.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Juan Lopez for final expenses, in care of the Hornung Family Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd Liberal, KS 67901.
