Leonard W. Spady

Leonard W. Spady, Liberal, KS died Monday, July 22, 2013 at St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, KS .

He was born January 13, 1923 in Texas County Oklahoma, the son of Wilbert and Bertha (Gaede) Spady.

Leonard attended Lemon Country School in Texas County, OK. He enlisted into the US Army during WWII at Ft. Sill, OK and served in Calcutta, India as a Lineman in the field artillery.

He was a mechanic for years then worked for Able Dirt Construction then the Seward County Landfill for 17 years. He was a Crane Operator for Liberal Iron & Metal for 17 years retiring in 1992. He was a also lifetime member of the VFW Lane Day Post #3166

He married Marjoria Gordon June 1, 1946 at Liberal, KS. She Survives.

In addition to his wife he is also survived by 1 Brother – Donald Spady of Mannassas, VA., 3 Grandsons and 6 Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son Dwayne Spady, 1 Brother, 5 Sisters and his parents.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am Saturday July 27 at Miller Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Jack Jacob officiating. Visitation will be Friday July 26, 2013 from 12:00 to 8:00 PM with the family receiving from 6:00pm to 7:30pm.

The family suggests memorials to the American Diabetes Association in care of Miller Mortuary.
