Leon Nathan Underwood, 95, died Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

He was born on July 25, 1925 in Graham, Oklahoma, the son of Gerald and Molly (Smith) Underwood.

Leon served in the United States Army from 1943 to 1945 during World War II. He served in combat in the European Theater, during the Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe campaigns. He was awarded the Bronze Star.

On January 23, 1948, he married Marvalene Nora Bryant in Gainesville, Texas. She preceded him in death on November 30, 2013.

Leon worked for many years as a truck driver. The last 10 years of his career, he was a driver for ENRON, where he retired.

11 great grandchildren

Jade, Jada, Dillon, Zach, Zeth, Katelynn, Nathan, Jace, Nora, Johnny, and Steve

Leon was preceded in death by his Wife Nora; his parents; daughter Toni Montes; brothers Jerry Underwood, Wayne Underwood and Boyd Underwood; sisters Dorothy Ogletree, Jackie Emberling and Christine Bevins; and one granddaughter, Lori Busby.

Visitation will be from 12pm to 8pm Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be 2pm, Saturday, November 21, 2020 at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Prater presiding. Burial to follow at Restlawn Cemetery.
