Lee Roy Minks

Lee Roy Minks, age 78, of Minneola , Kansas died Thursday, September 8, 2011 at the Minneola District Hospital in Minneola , Kansas . He was born July 13, 1933 in Buffalo , Oklahoma , the son of Leslie and Eva (Dies) Minks.
Lee Roy grew up in Alamota , Kansas and served in the United States Army. Lee Roy married Sondra Kay McGinnis on May 21, 1958 in Caldwell , Kansas . Lee Roy worked for Popejoy Construction and was a mechanic for Lathem Water Service. When he retired he moved to Portas , Kansas , Wagner , Oklahoma and then settled in Minneola , Kansas . Lee Roy enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by companion, Leota Pritchard of Wagner, Oklahoma; four sons, Richard Lee Minks of Bloom, Kansas, Randall Eugene of Palko, Oklahoma, Brian Wesley Minks of Zurich, Kansas, Shawn Allen Minks of Ulysses, Kansas; one daughter, Cheri Kay Ozborn of Ulysses, Kansas; brother, Les Minks Jr. of Hutchinson, Kansas; five sisters, Florence Parker of Fairview, Oklahoma, May Thomas of Dighton, Kansas, Ila Head of Scott City, Kansas, Faye Fairbank of Cimarron, Kansas, Mildred Rand of Omaha, Arkansas; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Lee Roy was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sondra on August 26, 1991; daughter, Cynthia Sue Martin; brother, Buddy Minks; and sister, Hazel Sisco.
Memorial graveside service will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 10:00 AM at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas with Faye Fairbank officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Memorial contributions may be given to the Wounded Soldiers Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave , Ulysses , KS 67880 .
