Leah Christina Norton

Leah Christina Norton 96, died on February 28th, 2016 at her Brookdale Liberal Springs residence in Liberal.
She was born Oct. 17, 1918 in Ford Co., Kansas the daughter of Louis Alvin and Christina Wilhelmina (Bort) Spitze. She graduated in 1936 from Kinsley High School in Kinsley, KS. She then attended and graduated in 1940 from Southwestern College in Winfield, KS with a Bachelor of Arts degree in in Home Economics. She moved to Liberal in 1960 from Hutchinson, KS. She was a retired School Teacher for USD 480.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Woman and the 20th Century Sunday School Class. She was award her 50 year pin in Order of the Eastern Star Liberal Chapter 104 were she had also was a past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society,
Seward County Retired Teacher Association and the Cloverleaf Club.
On June 1, 1941 she married Richard Edward Norton at Johnson, KS. He died in 1985.
Survivors include:
1 Son Karl Lee Norton
3 Grandchildren David Lee Norton, Daniel Robert Norton, and Cassandra Darlene Norton.
3 Great Grandchildren.
Preceded in death by 1 granddaughter Kara Michelle Norton. And 1 brother LeRoy Spitze.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 5th, 2016 at 10:00am at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Anglemyer presiding. Burial will be held at Restlawn Cemetery.
Visitation Time will be 9:00am to 5:00pm Thursday, March 3rd and 9:00am to 8:00pm Friday, March 4th.
