Leah C. Hood, age 90, formerly of Liberal, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at Ashton Court Care and Rehabilitation in Liberty, Missouri.
She was born August 7, 1928 in Gray, Oklahoma to Floyd Kerns and Nora Lee (Morgan) Kerns. She graduated from Booker High School in 1946 and attended Panhandle A&M and then Oklahoma A&M and married Paul Hood on July 23, 1950 in Booker, Texas. They were married for 67 years. Paul passed away on August 20, 2017. Together they owned a business, Liberal Safety Lane, for several years.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Liberal, Kansas.
Survivors include her children Cheryl Hood and husband, James Addington of Lummi Island, Washington; Paula Woolworth and husband Rick Woolworth of Liberty, Missouri and Kent Hood and wife, Debbie Hood of Kansas City, Missouri. Grandchildren, Michael Truman, Seattle, Washington and Soleah Hood, Lummi Island, Washington and Great Grandchildren, Foster Truman and Ka’Leah Turner and brother, Cleo Kerns and his wife, Betty Kerns, Laurel, Mississippi. Leah was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers – Warren Kerns, Adrian Kerns and sister, LaVada Lee.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, October 8, 2018 at Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, Kansas.
Visitation will be Sunday from 1pm-3pm at the Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel.
Memorials are suggested to the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in care of Brenneman Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd, Liberal, Kansas 67901.
