Lawrence Everett “Bud” Hibler

Lawrence Everett “Bud” Hibler, 90, peacefully entered his eternal home on September 22, 2021. Bud was born the 5th of 11 children on October 7, 1930, in Liberal, KS to Charles Everett Hibler and Lou Ella Horton.

From the moment he was born, Bud kept everyone on their toes. He found great joy in joking around and teasing those he loved. Bud graduated from Liberal High School in 1948. He had a passion for gardening and working with his hands. His yard was recognized several times as “Yard of the Week” in Liberal. Bud was an avid John Wayne fan, with a large collection of memorabilia and a dog named “Dog”. He was under the belief that if a movie didn’t have a horse or cowboy in it, it wasn’t worth watching. Camping was one of his favorite pastimes. Every Summer, he would load up his family, and often times friends, and take a two-week vacation to his favorite spot at Table Rock Lake in the Ozarks.

The majority of Bud’s career was spent overseeing and maintaining gas wells for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Co. He was also employed by the City of Liberal Parks Dept., and he supervised the Liberal Sanitation Dept before retiring.

Bud married Joyce Ann Burnham on August 3, 1973 combining a total of 10 children from this union. They were life-long residents of Liberal, KS until 2010 when they moved to Amarillo, TX.

Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann, of 44 years, two sons; Richard and Bill Hibler, one grandson, William Everett Lovelace, and one great-grandson, Olsen Gabriel Kerr. He was also preceded in death by 9 siblings.

Bud is survived by 8 children; James Hibler (Linda) of Grain Valley, MO, Larry Hibler of Oklahoma City, OK, Leslie Nance of Pueblo, CO, Mark Hibler (Rebecca) of Houston, TX, Barbara Washington of Wichita, KS, Kelli Lucas (John) of Bolivar, MO, Karla Fuentes (Santos) of Amarillo, TX, and Tammy Kerr (Bryan) of Amarillo, TX. He is also survived by one brother; Don Hibler (Judy) of Tuscumbia, MO and one sister, Anna Adams. Bud leaves behind a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren of which he took great pride in.

Cremation has already taken place. Graveside services will be October 16th, 2021, at 11:00 a.m., at Liberal Cemetery.
