Laura J. Sturges, 84, Baker, OK, died Monday, January 2, 2012
at her home.

She was born February 9, 1927 in Leachburg, PA, the daughter
Bill & Myrtle Prunty Jenkins.

She lived with her grandparents Edward & Florence Prunty for
seven years Leachburg, moving to Rocky Ford, CO living with
her mother and finishing school. During World War II, she worked
at the Air base in La Junta. She married Grover T. Sturges January
31, 1944 at Raton, NM. She cooked many a meal for ranch hands
and neighbors in eastern Colorado and New Mexico for many years.
Laura loved to read and sew, making all of Grover’s western shirts.

She attended the Baker United Methodist Church, Baker, OK.

She is survived by a son Tom Sturges and wife Sandie, Clayton, NM;
a daughter Judy Wagenseller and husband Jimmy, Baker, OK;
a brother, Bill Jenkins and wife Carolyn, Las Animas, CO;
seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents, husband Grover Sturges February
12, 2010.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday at the
Miller Chapel, with Rev. Todd Bergman presiding.

Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery, Hooker, OK.

Friends may call at the Miller Mortuary 1-8 P.M. Saturday and
Sunday, 9 A.M. til service time Monday.
