Larry L. Davolt

Larry L. Davolt passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Morton County Hospital in Elkhart, Kansas. He was the only child to Lewis and Clara Bell Davolt, born on June 15, 1941. Larry was born and raised in this community and lived here his whole life.

Larry attended Yarbrough and graduated in 1959. He then went on to attend Oklahoma Panhandle State University.

Larry married the love of his life, Betty Gillaspie, on September 21, 1983. He was a farmer and farmed his family’s land the majority of his life. Larry was a devout Christian and a member of the First Baptist Church in Elkhart. He enjoyed being with Betty, reading his bible, watching old westerns, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an amazing woodworker and could build just about anything. Larry, who was affectionately known to his family as “Pops”, also was the best dad and grandad anyone could have ever asked for.

Larry is survived by his daughters, Tammy Cooper of Texas and Susie Cooper of Florida; two sons-in-law, Kenneth Hipp of Oklahoma and Raymond Knabe of Kansas; five grandchildren, Jada Garza and husband Alfredo of Texas, Coty Cooper of Georgia, Brittny Cooper of Texas, Sara Knabe of Kansas and Colton Cooper of North Carolina; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty; and two daughters, Cindy Cooper and Sherry Knabe.

Funeral service will be held Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Elkhart with Pastor Ed Richards officiating. Interment will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Elkhart.
