Larry H. Meier

Larry H. Meier, age 68, of Ulysses, Kansas died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses, Kansas. He was born June 26, 1943 at Satanta, Kansas, the son of Clarence Clay (Hap) and Pearl Catherine (Feldman) Meier.

Larry was a graduate of Grant County Rural High School and a lifetime resident of Ulysses, Kansas. Following High School, Larry served in the United States Navy. In 1973 he opened Larry’s Welding Service. Larry was a Boy Scout leader and enjoyed collecting model trains.

On July 16, 1967, Larry married Julie Underhill at Ulysses, Kansas, she survives.

Other survivors include one son; Travis Meier and wife Kandy of Ulysses, Kansas, two daughters; Kendra Rayl and husband Brian of Wichita, Kansas and Kasey Meier of Emporia, Kansas. One sister Sharon Duncan of Macon, Georgia, three grandchildren; Dallas, Austin and Brett.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Pearl Meier.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, May 17, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Ulysses, Kansas, with Father Dale Lumley and Pastor Gerry Dupuis officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery, Ulysses, Kansas with Military Rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas. The family suggests memorials be given to the St. John’s Episcopal Church or the Ulysses Diabetic Support Group in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, Kansas 67880
