Lanny Lee Loeppke

Lanny Lee Loeppke, age 77, of Lakin, Kansas died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at his home. He was born October 16, 1941 in Hutchinson, Kansas the son of Harlan and Beatrice (Murphy) Loeppke.

Lanny was a life-long resident of Kansas, he grew up in rural southwest, Kansas with his parents and a younger sister, where he helped his father on the farm at an early age, when not farming he attended Johnson Grade School and Johnson High School, he participated in football, basketball, track, chorus and was active in 4-H. He also attended Kansas State University. It was on a blind date he met his future wife Janet Marie Tope , they were married on September 20, 1962 and spent 56 years raising six children and experiencing life the best ways they could. Lanny was a devoted husband, a committed father and a tireless provider. He always had a joke to tell, even to strangers. Lanny worked for 20 years at USD 215 in the transportation department.

Survivors include his wife Janet Marie Loeppke, four sons Stacy Loeppke and companion Shari Hensley, Lane Loeppke and wife Larrilee, Darren Loeppke and wife Vonda, Wade Loeppke and wife Lisa, two daughters Sheila Maxfield and husband Dan and Laura Kerns. One sister Wilda Easterday and husband Dave, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Lanny is preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside service will be held Friday, October 19, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at the Lakin Cemetery, Lakin Kansas with Pastor Wes Oakley officiating. There will be no public calling hours. Family requests memorials be given to the Lanny Lee Loeppke Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 91, Lakin, KS 67860.
