LaDena Ruth “Bit” (Burcham) Curtis, age 88, of Ulysses, Kansas, departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Stanton County Hospital in Johnson. She was born July 1, 1929, in Reed, Oklahoma, the daughter of Sydney Allen and Dena Francis (Boone) Burcham.

LaDena graduated from Reed High School in 1947. On August 7, 1948, she married Gail P. Curtis in Mangum, Oklahoma. They moved to Ulysses, Kansas, in 1948. She worked at the Ideal Grocery Store in Ulysses and for the Ulysses Co-op for 12 years as a bookkeeper. LaDena and Gail moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, in 1972. While in Woodward, she worked at Ideal Grocery Store, Main Place Mall, and was a volunteer at the Woodward Hospital. LaDena was a member of the Church of Christ.

LaDena leaves to mourn her one son, Dean Curtis and wife Kaye of Greeley, Colorado; one daughter, Mary Ann Wright and husband Loren of Ulysses; one brother, James “Sonny” Burcham and wife Bobbie of Longview, Texas; three granddaughters, Melissa Bradley and husband Jeff of Parachute, Colorado, Amy Carter and husband Chad of Clovis, New Mexico, and Misty Baldwin and husband Wade of Moore, Oklahoma; one grandson, Curtis Wright and wife Jessica of Durant, Oklahoma; and great-grandchildren, Andrea, Abigail, and Jack Baldwin, Zachariah and Zoey Bradley, Noah and Benjamin Carter, and Mason and Jacob Wright.

LaDena is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gail; brothers, William “Dick” Burcham, Nyal “Squak” Burcham, Herbert “Hub” Burcham, Gloyd “Skip” Burcham; and sisters, Retha “Gal” Gray, Mary “Pat” Jenkins, Francis “Chunk” Vaughn, McKinley “Kin” Garrison, Sarah Roberta Burcham, and Sidney Ann Burcham

Funeral service will be Monday, March 5, 2018, at 9:30 AM at the Church of Christ in Ulysses with Minister Warren Baldwin officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, March 5, 2018, at 5:00 PM at Rock Cemetery in Granite, Oklahoma. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2018, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to American Heart Association or Susan G.
