Kerry Lyle Wheeler, aged 77 years, 2 months, and 25 days, went to be with the Lord on the evening of May 22, 2019. Kerry was a life-long resident of Turpin, Oklahoma, where he was self-employed as a farmer and rancher.

He was born in the family home in Turpin on February 27, 1942. Raised by his father, Lynne Wheeler, and his mother, Thelma McNew, at a young age, he started farming with his Uncle and Aunt, Lyle and Gertrude Wheeler. Kerry Lyle graduated from Turpin High School in 1960 and from Okmulgee State Technical School in 1963. He married Arlene Watkins on December 27th, 1964.

He was a lifelong member of the Turpin United Methodist Church, where he served as a Sunday School superintendent and volunteer groundskeeper of Independence Cemetery. He served fifteen years on the Turpin School Board, and he was a former member of the Oklahoma Cattlemen’s Association. He also enjoyed singing, and in his younger days, he loved snow and waterskiing. He took many friends and family to Fort Supply Lake each summer, where he taught them how to waterski.

Preceding him in death were his parents and his three eldest sisters, Kathlyn Rowley, Delores Woody, and Shirlene Williams. He is survived by his wife, Arlene; his children Kirk Wheeler (Steffanie) of Flower Mound, Texas; Prof. Kip Wheeler (Cat Faber) of Jefferson City, Tennessee; and Dr. Keely Wheeler (Randy Totora) of Tulsa Oklahoma, and his three grandchildren, Kerighan, Kenedy, and Kylan Wheeler.

Memorial services will be held at the Turpin United Methodist Church on Friday, May 31, 2019 at 10:00 am.
