Kent Winger: UPDATE

Kent Winger, age 67, of Aransas Pass, Texas formerly of Johnson, Kansas died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at his home in Aransas Pass, Texas. He was born December 27, 1944 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Frederick Dale and Wilma Nancy (Jones) Winger.
Kent, a farmer, and lifelong resident of Stanton County; graduated from Manter High School in Manter, Kansas. He served two years in the service and then came back to Stanton County and farmed with his uncle. Kent enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, hunting for arrowheads, gardening, and reading western novels. He was a former member of the Johnson Masonic Lodge #441, NRA, Kansas Livestock Association, and National Corn Growers Association. In November 2009, he moved to Aransas Pass, Texas.
Survivors include four children; Travis Winger and wife Angie of Johnson, Kansas, Angie Moser and husband Ed of Syracuse, Kansas, Brenda Wilcox and husband Ryan of Sublette, Kansas, Clayton Winger and wife Alma of Johnson, Kansas; his mother, Wilma Winger of Johnson, Kansas; two sisters, Nancy Ricker and husband Nelson of Walsh, Colorado, Margaret Hook and husband Calvin of Syracuse, Kansas; and nine grandchildren, Lane and Levi Winger, Bryan, Kelsey and Alex Moser, Kennedy and Addyson Wilcox, Lexi Elizalde, and Christian Winger.
Kent is preceded in death by his father, Dale.
Funeral service will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 10:30 AM at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Nate Thomas officiating. Interment will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson, Kansas with Military Rites conducted by VFW Post #3684. Friends may call Sunday, July 15, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
