Kenneth Wayne Hamilton, age 77, died on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas.
He was born on December 5, 1946, in Liberal, Kansas to Robert W. and Helen (Crawford) Hamilton.
Ken graduated High School from Wentworth Military Academy in Lexington, MO before he was drafted by the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War. The majority of his time in Vietnam had him stationed in Pleiku. These formative years instilled in him a strong work ethic and sense of discipline that were evident throughout his life.
Ken’s career path spanned various industries and showcased his love of working with people and making friends. He started by working at Tucker Clothing before moving on to Frontier Federal. He then became an integral part of the Panhandle Eastern team, enjoyed some years in real estate, and then eventually ventured into small business ownership with his wife, Jana, as owner/operators of KD Liquor. After retirement he thoroughly enjoyed his part time job working at the local golf course. (Jana enjoyed this too as it kept him busy and out of the kitchen).
Beyond his successful career and military service, Ken deeply cherished his role as a family man. On July 29, 1984, he was united in marriage to Jana Cuthbertson in Purdy, Missouri. Ken was the proud father of three wonderful children who brought immense joy to his life. He was an exceptional individual who always lived life to the fullest, as was evident in his unwavering passion for golf and music. Many, many jam sessions have taken place at his family home over the years with family and friends.
It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Ken. A remarkable man who enriched our lives and leaves behind a profound legacy. May his soul find eternal peace as we hold dear the memories he created with us all.
