Kathy Schwarzer, age 63, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Thursday, October 10, 2019, at Pratt Regional Medical Center in Pratt, Kansas. She was born February 4, 1956, in Ulysses, Kansas, the daughter of Lester and Joanna (Brauer) Hemphill.
Kathy grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Ulysses High School. She worked for the Ulysses Police Department and Grant County Sheriff Department for 23 ½ years as dispatcher, secretary and bookkeeper. She enjoyed crocheting, and was an avid bowler and KU fan. Kathy was a compassionate and loving person and cared deeply for her community. She was always willing to help someone in need.
Kathy is survived by two sons, Dustin Gordon and fiancé Carrie Roberts of Pratt, and Brandon Gordon of Ulysses; brother, Don Calhoun of Gunnison, Colorado; sister, Lois Jobe of Copeland; and two grandchildren, Heidi and Hayley Roberts.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents.
Celebration of life service will be Saturday, October 19, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses with Pastor Steven Walters officiating.
