Karlton Douglas Waechter, age 21, of Garden City, Kansas died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born June 30, 1993 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of Troy Waechter and Karla (Hogie) Shore.
Karlton was very active in 4-H, serving as an Ambassador and was always helping others. He showed pigs, sheep and cattle, and was a Round Robin Showmanship Champion. He was a member of FFA in high school and graduated from Ulysses High School in 2012. Karlton was the owner of Bear Creek Cattle. He traveled to Ft. Worth and Dallas, Texas, Denver, Colorado and Indianapolis, Indiana to show and fit cattle. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Ulysses. Karlton moved to Garden City last year from Ulysses. He worked for Vivint, installing security systems.
He is survived by his parents, Troy and Ronda Waechter of Ulysses, Kansas, Karla and Steven J. Shore of Johnson, Kansas; siblings, Heather Mitchell and husband Paul of Manter, Kansas, Shalie Russett and husband Erik of Ulysses, Kansas, Brooklynn Wood of Maize, Kansas, Landon Wood of Maize, Kansas, Amber Tafoya and husband Alex of Olathe, Kansas, Jace Nuckles of Arvada, Colorado, Andi Christianson and husband Brent of Manhattan, Kansas, Stephanie McElroy and husband Ryan of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Reagan Shore of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Reilly Shore of Ulysses, Kansas, Steven K. Shore of Ulysses, Kansas, and Haley Shore of Sharon Springs, Kansas; grandparents, Letcher Waechter, Diane and Thurman Holmes, and Jay and Wanda Bloesser all of Ulysses, Kansas.
Karlton is preceded in death by his grandfathers, Carl Waechter and Raymond Hogie.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 24, 2015 at the Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Patrick Gumz officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakin Cemetery in Lakin, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, April 23, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Karlton Waechter 4-H Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
