Julia Lee Benson

Julia Lee Benson (83) left this world on April 29, 2021 and is now
celebrating with her Lord and Savior.
She was born in Ellsworth, KS June 5, 1937 to Roland T. and Ada Faye
(Kline) Newsome. She graduated from Salina Central High School, Salina
KS in 1955. She married Floyd R. Benson June 5, 1955 in Salina, KS. They
moved to Ft. Collins, CO in 1963 where they were instrumental in
starting several churches. In 1972 they moved to Liberal for Floyd to
pastor the Grace Baptist Temple. Julie worked for Chuck McKeen at McKeen
Optical for many years. Most recently she was the custodian at the First
Christian Church.

Children: Vicki Stow of Independence, MO. Steve (Donna) Benson of
Liberal, KS. Sue (Tim) Sadler, Coweta, OK.
Grandchildren: Jerry (Becky) Stow, Lafayette, CO. Kristi Stow,
Independence, MO. Kristen (Reggie) Anthony, Andover, KS. Jeff (Mimi)
Sadler, Brighton, CO. Thomas (Kendra) Benson, Liberal, KS. Bradley
(Linda) Benson, Liberal, KS. Clayton (Hope) Benson, Lubbock, TX. Brother
Harry Newsome of Salina, KS. Sisters-in-law Pat Newsome, Salina, KS and
Phyllis (Jerry) Ihlow, Las Vegas, NV. Twelve great grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd in 2007. One brother,
David Newsome, in 2000. One sister, Yvonne Murphy in 2015 and one
granddaughter, Amy Sadler, in 1981.
Per Julie’s request there will not be any public memorial. A private
family service was held.
