Julia “Jul” Blattner

Jul was born to Harry and Lillie Haynes in Atwood, Ks. July 3, 1939. She passed away on Friday afternoon November 8, 2024 at the Lone Tree Residential Care Center, Meade, Ks.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Shirley Haynes and brothers, Phil and Bobby Haynes.

In 1959 Jul married her best friend and life long partner Arlen Blattner.

Jul worked several years at Gates Drug Store, the Meade Veterinary Clinic and also served on the Fowler Nursing Home board for 25 years. However, her favorite job was working side by side with Arlen helping to build and maintain their growing ranching business. While raising two children she always found the time to participate in all of their activities and pursuits. Sporting events and kids’ activities brought so much enjoyment in her life. Jul was a real people person and an avid animal lover. Besides owning cows and calves, cats and dogs, she loved caring for turkeys, miniature donkeys, ducks, horses, geese, and chickens. She was the ultimate caretaker always putting everyone’s needs above her own.

Jul is survived by her husband of 65 years, Arlen Blattner, daughter Shari Weatherson (David) of Wichita, Ks., son Shawn Blattner (Alicia) Haysville, Ks., three grandchildren, Isaiah, Michael, and Adalynn of Haysville, Ks., sister Marie (Jack) Lawson of McMinnville, OR.

At Jul’s request there will not be a formal service.

She would appreciate any memorials be sent to the Meade Hospital, Lone Tree Residential Care Center or Fowler Fire Deptment in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Ks.
