Juanita P. “Bonnie” Komarek

Juanita P. “Bonnie” Komarek, 91, of Liberal, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the Wheatridge Care Park in Liberal, KS.

She was born on April 23, 1927 to Norman and Alice (King) Boggs at Arkansas City, Kansas.

On February 4, 1945 she married Donald Komarek in Alexandria, LA; he preceded her in death on December 10, 2011.

Growing up Juanita lived in many different places as her family often relocated to where the jobs were. She attended school in Ellinwood, Kansas, where she met and married her high school sweetheart Donald. After she and Donald were married she moved to Alexandria, LA where her husband was stationed as a pilot in the Army during WWII. After the war Juanita and her family lived in different areas including Oregon and Washington before moving to Liberal, Kansas in 1962. After moving to Liberal she worked at King’s Pit BBQ and then went on to be a sales clerk at Sweetbrier & JC Penneys. She enjoyed Bowling, cooking, and spending time with her family & friends. She was a member of Yellow Freight Wive’s Bingo Club, St. Anthony Altar Society, and the St. Anthony Catholic Church.

Juanita also survived by her Two Daughters – Sharon Cook and husband Melvin of Liberal, KS, Donita Box and husband David of Liberal, KS; Seven Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and Three Great-Great Grandchildren

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one son- Ronald Komarek, one grandson- Scott A. Cook

Viewing will 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at Miller Mortuary, followed by a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm at the Miller Mortuary Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the St Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Liberal, KS.

Burial will follow the service at the Liberal City Cemetery.
