Juana “Jane” Torrez DeVinney

Juana Torrez DeVinney, age 88, died Sunday, October 23, 2022, at Good Samaritan Society in Liberal, Kansas.

She was born on March 8, 1934, the daughter of Sylvester Torrez and Isabelle Ruiez in Hanston, Kansas.

Juana was united in marriage to Donald Ray DeVinney on March 8, 1989, in Liberal, Kansas. She served as a Catholic nun for 25 years in healthcare. Juana was the Meal Director at the Liberal Senior Center and also worked at the Pioneer Manor and the Seward County Community College cafeteria. Juana loved spending time with her loved ones and was a very loving godmother. She will be truly missed by all the lives she has touched.

She is survived by Jane is survived by her husband, Donald Ray DeVinney, two stepsons, Kelly DeVinney (Sonya) of Markel, Texas, and

Jacob DeVinney (Mehrnaz) of Pleasanton, California.

Two brothers, one sister, and goddaughter, Leticia Sauseda of Garden City, Kansas.

Preceded in death by both her parents, Sylvester Torrez and Isabelle Ruiez,

Visitation will be from 12:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Wednesday, October 26, 2022, at the Hornung Family Funeral Home, 1212 W. 2nd Street, Liberal, Kansas.

Rosary to follow at 6:00 PM at the Hornung Family Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral Mass will be 10:00 AM on Thursday, October 27, 2022, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 1510 N. Calhoun, Liberal, Kansas. Graveside Services to follow at the Liberal Cemetery.
