Juan Nila Gomez

Juan Nila Gomez, age 69, died Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born on May 16, 1954, in El Tecolote, Guanajuato, Mexico, the son of Nemesio and Maria de Jesus (Gomez) Nila.

When Juan was 18 years old, he moved to the United States and for the last 30 years he has been a resident in Ulysses, Kansas. Juan married Teresa Lozano on April 20, 1975, in Mexico. He worked on water wells in the agriculture industry, worked in cement construction for WT Contractors, and poured cones for grain bins. Juan enjoyed fishing and being outdoors. A family man, he loved to cook and was the main chef for his family and loved spending time with his grandkids.

Juan is survived by his wife, Teresa, of Ulysses; sons, Jose Juan Nila of Texas, Jose Alfredo Nila of Washington, Jose Jesus Nila and Rolando Nila both of North Dakota; daughters, Gricelda Nila of Mexico, Cristina Nila and Diana Nila both of Ulysses; sister, Piedad Nila of Mexico; 34 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Juan is preceded in death by his parents.

Rosary will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, at 9:00 am and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 am at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Eric Gyamfi officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 29, 2023, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
