Joyce Willems-Blankenship

Mrs. Joyce Willems-Blankenship, of Liberal, KS, passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018 at the age of 81. She now rests in her heavenly home.

Joyce was born to parents Emma Ratzlaff-Willems and Aaron Willems on January 23, 1937 in McPherson, KS. She grew up as the eldest of three children in Inman, KS.

Joyce married John Blankenship in 1957, and the couple had five children. Joyce was a book keeper during the last forty years of her employment in Topeka, KS. In 2010, she relocated to the Good Samaritan Center in Liberal, KS. Joyce was a devoted mother and grandmother, putting her family first always. She was president of resident counsel and was a member of the bell choir at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center.

Joyce is survived by her five children: Larry Blankenship and his wife Ann of Hooker, OK, Mike Blankenship of Liberal, KS, Sheila Webb of Topeka, KS, Steven Blankenship of Topeka, KS, and Janet Harkness and her husband Randy of Hooker, OK; her sister, Janice Stone and husband Clarence, Topeka, KS.;. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Michael Blankenship and wife Jess, Cory Blankenship, Ian Blankenship, Kristi Blankenship, and Ashley Webb, and her two great-grandchildren, Cameron Blankenship and Lily Salamanca. She is preceded in death by her former husband, John Blankenship; her parents, Aaron and Emma Willems; and her brother, John Willems.
