Joyce E. Amerin

Joyce E. Amerin, age 62, passed away early Friday morning, October 14, 2022, at the St. Francis Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.

She was born April 28, 1960, at Meade, Kansas, the daughter of John R. and Shirletta Joyce (Keeling) Amerin. As a young girl, she attended school in Plains, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School in 1979. She later attended St. Mary of the Plains in Dodge City for several years. A longtime area resident, she was a home health caregiver and a substitute schoolteacher.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, watching soap operas and game shows, shopping, playing games of chance, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by three brothers, Mike Amerin, Max Amerin, and Jeff Amerin, all of Plains; several aunts, uncles, niece and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Janice L. Amerin.

Vigil services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Plains. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 Friday, October 21, 2022, at the church. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow in the Plains Cemetery, Plains.

The family would welcome memorials to the Janice Amerin Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home.
