Josie M. Nichols

Josie M. Nichols, age 81, homemaker, died Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Mississippi. She was born November 18, 1934, in Dodge City, Kansas the daughter of Pete and Katie (Smith) Unruh.

She was a member of the Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses, Kansas. On December 21, 1958, she married Howard Nichols. He survives.

Other survivors include three daughters, Janice and Randy Koehn of Hazelton, Idaho, Kendra and Scott Koehn of Wilcox, Arizona, Vickie and Bryan Smith of Ulysses, Kansas; four sons, Lowell and Lorie of Bradley, Arizona, Tony Nichols of Sabetha, Kansas, Steven and Jennifer of Grandview, Idaho, Todd and Loretta of Ulysses, Kansas; seven siblings, Melvin Unruh of Detroit, Texas, Ormah and Arnold Giesbrecht, of Brooksville, Mississippi, Pete Unruh Jr. and Georgarene of Macon, Mississippi, Lorraine Unruh, Fern and Harold Schmidt, all of Brooksville, Mississippi, Donald and Elaine Unruh of Macon, Mississippi, and Larry and Sharolyn of Grifton, North Carolina, 33 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Josie is preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and one grandson .

Funeral service will be Friday, April 8, 2016, at 10:30 AM at Grant Mennonite Church in Ulysses. Interment will follow at Grant Mennonite Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, April 7, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial may be given to Bethel Home in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
