Joseph V. Bradley

Joseph V. Bradley, age 87, passed away early Monday morning, March 4, 2019, at his Minneola residence.

He was born July 28, 1931, in rural Meade County, Kansas, the son of Lewis A. and Nellie Mae (Lawson) Bradley.  As a young boy he attended school at rural Fowler and later attended Fowler High School, graduating in 1951.  A longtime area resident, he was a mechanic having worked for Johnson Chevrolet, Brady Implement, Polkinghorn Feed Yard, and Foley Caterpillar.

He was a member of the First Christian Church and attended the Celebration Church.  He enjoyed woodworking, leather crafting, ceramics, working with his hands, and spending time with his family and friends.

On December 16, 1950, he married Phyllis Jean Johnson at Fowler, Kansas.  She precedes him in death on June 19, 2012.

He is survived by four daughters, Peggy Zortman and husband Paul of rural Fowler, Ann Angert and husband Ron of Newport, Virginia, Patty Harrison and husband Tom of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Susan Davis and husband Bill of Dodge City, Kansas; a sister, Mary Helen Sobba of Fowler; eight grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife; a son, Michael Joseph (Mike) Bradley on January 10, 1976; his parents; a brother Richard Bradley; and three sisters, Margaret McElgunn, Norma Jean Waters, and Julianne Post.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019, at the Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Cremation has taken place.  Inurment will take place in the Fowler Cemetery at a later date.

The family would welcome memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association in care funeral home.
