WELLTON, ARIZONA – WELLTON, ARIZONA – Joseph D. (Joe) Robbins, age 76, passed away early Sunday morning at his rural Wellton residence.

He was born December 1, 1946, at Wichita, Kansas, the son of Reverend Joe Lynn Max and Katherine Nell (Roberts) Robbins. As as young boy he attended school in Kansas City graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1965. After his graduation, he attended William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, and Southwest Baptist College. He later joined the United States Navy, serving for several years. Upon his discharge, he attended Labette County Community College and returned to William Jewell, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Education. After his graduation, he began a career in teaching and later began selling insurance for Farm Bureau. He was a longtime resident of Meade, before moving to Wellton, Arizona, where he continued to operate his insurance agency in Yuma for many years.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Lacholla Gun Club, a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, served as president of the USD 226 School Board, the American Legion, and former member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed guns, shooting sports, cheering for the University of Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs, and spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On December 15, 1968, he married Fia Jane Tiumalu at Charleston, South Carolina. She passed away on May 5, 1987. On December 24, 2003, he married Cindy Fidler Bachman at Baxter Springs, Kansas. She survives.

Other survivors include two daughters, Heather Kobs and husband Jeff, and Tara Cunningham both of Richardson, Texas; bonus children, Trevin Bachman and wife Angela of Meade, Kansas, Misti Caddell of Yuma, Arizona, Blake Bachman and wife Nina of Yuma, Arizona, and Craig Bachman and wife Victoria of Tuscon, Arizona; a sister, Linda Nell Leonard and husband Gene of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother-in-law Rufus Black of Kansas City, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren, Gus, Max, Fia, Monty, Eli, Hayden, Harrison, Skyler, Alissa, Jaelynn, Cooper, Ashley, Bailey, Brooklynn, Brandt, and Dayvani; two great-grandchildren, Gunnar and Emersyn; and severalnieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Jane; parents; and a sister, Katherine Clare Black.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at the United Methodist Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Thursday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Intement will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Wounded Warrior Project or Tunnel to Towers in care of the funeral home.
