Johnnie Dale Crump

Johnnie Dale Crump, known by many as John, was born on January 9, 1940, in Estelline, Texas, to Reinard and Alma Crump. His journey of life, filled with dedication, generosity, love, and thoughtfulness, came to a peaceful close on July 20, 2023. A proud Texan by birth, Johnnie lived a vibrant life that took him from his birthplace to Memphis, Texas, and later to Ulysses and Satanta, Kansas, before finally settling down in Garden City, Kansas.

John was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Jeanette, whom he married on March 16, 1996. Together, they created a life full of love and laughter. A loving father to Jana, Justin, Christopher, and Anthony as well as a doting Papa to Ava Lynn who came to live with him in 2019. John instilled in them his values of family, faith, and country, the three pillars that mattered most to him. He was a dedicated farmer and a hard worker, retiring from IBP, Inc. in 2000. John’s life wasn’t all work, he had an adventurous spirit that led him to own a nightclub, enjoy the thrill of being a sharpshooter during his time in the army, and even play pool and snooker with such prowess he could beat anyone with one hand tied behind his back, which he proved any chance he had.

John’s thoughtfulness extended to the finer details of life. He was an avid reader, a collector of belt buckles and shot glasses, and a member of his local congregation. His generosity was evident in his saying that his purpose in life was to take care of his wife, Jeanette. Preceded in death by his parents, Reinard and Alma Lou “Big Mama”, and siblings, Arvel, Lloyd, Modina “Bert”, and Nelda, John leaves a legacy of love and warmth to those he leaves behind, particularly his wife, Jeanette, his children, grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his brothers and sisters.

There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
