John Newlon, 79, of Liberal, Kansas, died, Monday, May 20, 2019 at the Harry Hyne’s Memorial Hospice, Wichita, Kansas.
He was born November 5, 1939 in Emporia, Kansas to John Newlon and Serena (Gaffney) Newlon. John graduated from Hamilton High School, Hamilton, Kansas in 1957. He attended Butler County Community College.
John married Elaine Roehr, June 13, 1965 in Plains, Kansas. She died December 17, 2014.
He worked for National Helium Corporation as a Maintenance Supervisor for 31 years, retiring in 1994.
John was actively involved in farming all of his life, in Steven’s and Greenwood counties in Kansas.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Liberal, Kansas.
John is survived by a son Jeff and wife Vicky Newlon of Hugoton, KS. A daughter Kim and husband Shon Clinkingbeard, Hugoton, Kansas.
3 grandchildren, Chase Clinkingbeard, Austin Newlon and Megan Newlon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, a sister Patricia McClure and brother-In-law Lloyd McClure.
Visitation will be Monday, May 27, 2019 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the First United Methodist Church 116 W. 3rd St. Liberal, Kansas with Rev. Keith Anglemyer officiating.
Burial will follow in the Liberal Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church in care of Brenneman Funeral Home 1212 W. 2nd St. Liberal, Kansas 67901 in memory of John.
