John Hamelin, age 61, of Ulysses, Kansas, passed away on March 27, 2020. He was the son of William and Mary (Duraj) Hamelin and was born in Utica, New York, on December 30, 1958.
John attended Catholic Schools in Utica and retired from Mohawk Valley Community College. John moved to Ulysses to marry the love of his life, Beth Brandt, on December 5, 2015. Their journey and love story made the Hutchinson Daily Newspaper in Kansas.
John was an avid NY Yankees fan and planned to catch the Kansas City Royals playing the Yankees in Kansas this year. He was also a big history aficionado and genealogy buff and spent many hours researching the family tree.
John is survived by his sister, Vickie Egresits and husband John of New York; brothers, Bill Hamelin and wife Lorraine of New York, and Carl Hamelin and wife Carla of Virginia; mother and father-in-law, Janet and Darrel Damon of Ulysses, Kansas; sisters-in-law, Kerri Brandt of Salina, Kansas, Diane Crawford and husband Jeff of Hugoton, Kansas, Denise Porter and husband Ken of Bakersfield, California; and brother-in-law, Jim Brandt of Cheyenne, Wyoming. There are many nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to name that John loved dearly.
John is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Beth; and sister, Dawn.
Through John’s love and faith in God, we know he is reunited with his beloved Beth and they are dancing together in heaven today, and in eternity.
