John Greg Howell

Greg Howell, age 54, of Manter, Kansas died Friday, July 24, 2015 at his home in rural Stanton County, Kansas. He was born June 18, 1961 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Virginia (Donahu) Howell.

Greg grew up in Syracuse and graduated from Syracuse High School in 1979. He then moved to Topeka where he was an operator at a waste water plant. Greg moved back to Syracuse and for 20 years farmed and worked as an independent contractor for dairies. For the last year he was a foreman at Syracuse Dairy. Greg married Candi Figgins on February 21, 2015 in Dumas, Texas at the Middlewell United Methodist Church. He enjoyed Harley Davidson motorcycles, traveling and history.

He is survived by his wife, Candi of their home; children, Nicole Howell of Eugene, Oregon, Kacy Howell and fiancé Luke Rogge of Lindsborg, Kansas, Wesley Howell of Topeka, Kansas, Christopher Howell, Twila Smedley of Manter, Kansas, David Smedley of Manter, Kansas; and brother, Bill Howell of Syracuse, Kansas.

Greg is preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Allan Rogge.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Reverend Keith Hight officiating. Friends are encouraged to ride their motorcycles to the service. Interment will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery in Syracuse, Kansas. Friends may call from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. Memorial contributions may be given to the Middlewell United Methodist Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
