John Edwin Hindman

John Edwin Hindman, age 66, of Ft. Dodge, Kansas formerly of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus in Wichita, Kansas. He was born May 9, 1948 in Fowler, Kansas, the son of Everett and Beulah (Powell) Hindman.

John graduated from Ulysses High School in 1966. He served in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic from 1967 until 1972. He was stationed in Las Vegas, Korea and Japan. John was a Gas Plant Operator for Williams Field Service and a mechanic at National Beef. He loved his family, kids and grandkids even more. He had a special relationship also with his daughters-in-law. John was very knowledgeable about airplanes, enjoyed fishing, car racing, camping, and playing the lottery. He was a member of the College Street Baptist Church.

He is survived by his sons, Lonny Hindman of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Christopher Hindman of Garden City, Kansas; daughter, Laura Hindman of Shawnee, Oklahoma; mother, Beulah Hindman of Casper, Wyoming; sisters, Kathy Hagerman, Barbara Chinn, and Patricia Henley; and eight grandchildren. 

John is preceded in death by his father.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 1, 2014 at the Country View Baptist Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Sam Bynum officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the John Edwin Hindman Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
