John E. Williamson

John E. Williamson, age 76, of Johnson, KS died January 14, 2014 at Stanton County Long Term Care Unit, Johnson, KS. He was born July 17, 1937 at Cedar Vale, KS the son of Alfred Edmon and Evelyn Pauline (Mattocks) Williamson.

John grew up in Syracuse, KS and graduated from Syracuse High School. He attended Garden City Community College and served 10 years in the U.S. Navy. He worked for the Syracuse Police Department and moved to Elkhart, KS to serve as Chief of Police. He then moved to Johnson, KS in 1974 and worked as a Parts Manager at L&N Engine before working at Cities Service Gas for 21 years as a Senior Operator. After retiring he worked in the Clubhouse at Prairie Pines Golf Course in Johnson. He enjoyed Shooting, bowling, golfing, fishing and playing Dominos.

He married Earlene F. Nairn on August 16, 1970; she preceded him in death on May 16, 2000.

Survivors include one son, Rick Williamson and wife Cindy of Johnson, KS; three daughters, Shari King and husband Ron of Eskridge, KS, Robin Heckel and husband Greg of Ulysses, KS and Joni Hale and husband Clint of Clarksville, TN. One brother Jim Williamson and wife Anita of Garden City, KS. 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral service will be Friday, January 17, 2014; 10:00 a.m. at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson, KS with Pastor Kurt Rovenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery with Military Rites by VFW Post #3684. Friends may call at Garnand Funeral Home, Johnson, KS on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The family suggest that memorials be given to Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home Box 715, Johnson, KS 67855.
