Joe Tarbet

Joe Tarbet, age 74, died Thursday, November 21, 2024, at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. He was born on October 25, 1950, in Ulysses, Kansas, the son of Brick and Peggy (Bangs) Tarbet.

Joe grew up in Ulysses and graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1968. He then attended and graduated from Fort Hays State University and returned to Ulysses to join the family business, Tarbet Construction and Tarbet Ready Mix with locations in Ulysses, Johnson, Hugoton, Elkhart and Syracuse, Kansas. Joe had friends all over southwest Kansas and he loved to tour the countryside checking on business and looking at construction projects. He also enjoyed classic cars, his dogs and collecting model trains.

Joe is survived by his daughter, Melissa Tarbet of Chanute, Kansas. His dear friend, Linda Metcalf, brother, Steve Tarbet and wife Carol all of Ulysses, Kansas. One granddaughter, Paige Tarbet of McDonough, Georgia. Nephews, Matthew Tarbet and wife Jo Angela of Ulysses, Kansas and Michael Tarbet and wife Amanda of Garden City, Kansas and their families.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Brick and Peggy Tarbet.
