Jimmy Duane Garverick, born on May 4, 1964, in Hugoton, Kansas, passed away on October 9, 2023, in Wichita, Kansas. He was known for his hard work and dedication to his career as a truck driver, following in the footsteps of his father, Ronald.
Jimmy had a zest for life and was always willing to lend a helping hand. His warm and caring nature made him beloved by all who knew him. He had a particular fondness for children and was often seen playing with them and making them laugh. Jimmy’s friendly personality and love for life were truly infectious.
After graduating from Cibola High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in 1982, Jimmy pursued his passions and interests wholeheartedly. During high school, he actively participated in Future Farmers of America (FFA), Decca, wrestling, and football activities. These experiences helped shape the diligent and determined individual he became.
Jimmy had several hobbies that brought him joy outside of work and school commitments. He was passionate about trucking and embraced the adventure of being on the open road. Motorcycles also held a special place in his heart, giving him freedom and exhilaration. But perhaps what defined Jimmy best was his playful nature filled with jokes and laughter.
Jimmy’s love for his family was undeniable. He cherished every moment spent with them and was devoted to their well-being. He leaves behind his mother Sheryn Garverick, Hugoton, KS.; two brothers, Jeffery Garverick and his wife Tracy from Woodland Park, CO., Ron Garverick and wife Amber from Dumas, TX.; four nieces; three nephews; and one great-niece; and many other relatives and friends.
Sadly, Jimmy is preceded in death by his loving father, Ronald N. Garverick; paternal grandparents, Clarence and Nellie Garverick; maternal grandparents, Charles and Bernadine Cantrell; and step-maternal grandfather, Leland Morford. Their memory will forever be cherished by those who loved Jimmy dearly.
A memorial has been established for Pheasant Heaven Charities in the care of Robson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 236, Hugoton, Kansas 67951.
