Jimmy D. Zimmerman, age 68, passed away Sunday afternoon, August 13, 2017, at Via Christi St. Frances Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas.
He was born September 9, 1948 at Dodge City Kansas, the son of Rollin and Ethyle Bonnie (Kyle) Zimmerman.  As a young boy he attended school in Greensburg and later moved to Meade, graduating from Meade High School in 1966.  He later attended Pittsburg State University, Pittsburg, Kansas.  After his education he traveled building pipelines, making his lifetime home in Plains.  He worked for R&R Lease before starting his own company Zimmerman Contract Pumping. 
He was a member of the Plains United Methodist Church, and the Pipefitters Union #798.  He enjoyed leather craft, being a rock hound, fishing, spending time in the outdoors, and most of all his grandchildren.
In 1968, he married Marilyn Haddon in Paducah, Kentucky. She survives.
Other survivors include his children, Shawn Zimmerman and wife Susan Aurora, Colorado, Kevin Zimmerman and his wife Krystal of Plains, Kansas and April Strickland and husband Jess of Granbury, Texas; two sisters, Patty Lisowski of Nickerson, Kansas, and Connie Kelly and husband Nathan of Irving, Texas; and four grandchildren, Kira, Audra, Lydia, and Drezden.
Celebration of life services will be held on Friday August 25, 2017, at Meade State Lake, Gathering at 10:00AM Service at 10:30AM.  Cremation has taken place.
In lieu of flowers per Jim’s request a memorial of a higher education fund has been set up for his grandchildren established at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary.
