Jim Dimitt

Jim Dimitt, age 89, of Johnson, Kansas died Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at his home in Johnson, Kansas. He was born December 1, 1926 in Finney County, Kansas, the son of James Welsey Sr. and Ermine (Bradley) Dimitt.
Mr. Dimitt moved to Stanton County when he was 2 years old. He graduated from Johnson High School. Jim married Joyce Raney in Johnson in 1947. He was a member of the American Ag Movement and drove a tractor to Washington D.C. Jim played baseball when he was younger, was a Boy Scout leader for numerous years, enjoyed trap shooting, and was a past president of Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce of their home; sons, Spencer Dimitt of Johnson, Kansas, Terry Dimitt of Ulysses, Kansas, Paul Dimitt of Brandon, Colorado; daughter, Brenda Jones of Conway Springs, Kansas; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Vic Dimitt; and two sisters, Vila Ruth and Nina Seyb.
A family memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Don Mace officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to the Stanton County Library or Stanton County Museum in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
