Jim D. Blakeley, age 72, of Elkhart, Kansas, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at Morton County Senior Living Community, Elkhart, Kansas. He was born July 30, 1945, in Elkhart, Kansas, the son of Howard and Nellie (Goodwin) Blakeley.

Jim attended Yarrbough School and was Valedictorian of his graduating class. Throughout his life, Jim was a farmer and rancher and eventually took over his family’s farm. He was a member of the First Church of God, Elkhart, Kansas and was a sponsor of many youth group ski trips. In his spare time, Jim enjoyed leather tooling, golfing and fishing.

Jim married Jody Webb in Elkhart, Kansas on June 8, 1968; she survives.

Other survivors include one son; Wade Blakeley, Elkhart, Kansas, one sister; Billie Horton and husband Glenn of Elkhart, Kansas, one grandson; Justin Chad Blakeley, Hugoton, Kansas and a number of nieces and nephews.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, one son; Chad Blakeley, one brother; Lindon Blakeley and two sisters; Barbara Thrash and Iris Watkins.

Friends may call Monday, January 22, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Elkhart, Kansas. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at the First Church of God, Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Denny Huebner officiating. Burial will follow at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to Hands for Hope or the First Church of God in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O.
