Jesus Monarrez Peña
Joe Denoyer - November 17, 2024 9:21 pm
Jesus Monarrez Peña, age 91, died on Thursday, November 14, 2024, at his residence in Liberal, Kansas.
He was born on October 15, 1933, in El Oro, Durango, Mexico, to Mariano Monarrez Diaz and Aurelia Peña Barron.
Jesús was united in marriage to Gregoria Sánchez de Monarrez on August 15, 1954, in Indé, Durango, Mexico. He was a proud father of four children, Adam, Martin, Jesus and Victor, and six daughters, Eva, María Concepcion, María del Carmen, María Gregoria, Yesenia and Ludivina.
As a self-employed farmer, Jesús dedicated his life to caring for the land and supporting his family. Throughout his life, Jesus poured his heart into everything he undertook. He took pride in tending crops and livestock, and in the rewards of hard work.
Jesus enjoyed horse racing and the joy and excitement they brought. His favorite pastime was opening the doors of his pool hall, “El Recreo del Campesino,” for his friends and residents of La Puerta de Cabrera, after a long and arduous day of work. He found joy in creating a welcoming place where he was called Don Chuy or Chuy and the entire community knew him. However, perhaps his most treasured moments were those spent with his grandchildren. Jesus delighted in creating special memories with them, sharing stories and laughter. Jesus was a loving and affectionate husband and father to his children. He will always be cherished in the hearts of his loving family, who will carry the lessons of kindness, effort and devotion that he demonstrated throughout his life.
