Jerry Joe Rader, age 84, passed away Saturday morning, March 27, 2021, at Homestead Estates Home Plus in Liberal, Kansas.
Jerry was born December 7, 1936 at home in Hooker, Oklahoma the son of Donald and Irene Rader. The family moved to Liberal when he was very young but old enough to remember they moved the whole house with the family to Washington Street. As a young boy Jerry attended school at Washington Elementary School and graduated from Liberal High School in 1953.
In 1959 he entered the United States Army Corp of Engineers and built bridges in Panama until he was discharged in 1961. He returned home to work with his father in the Rader Plumbing Company.
Jerry faithfully attended Central Christian Church with his mother and was a member for many years. He enjoyed watching HS and SCCC sports in person and online, football and basketball on TV and playing on the computer. He enjoyed animals of all kinds, especially cats. Any stray that came to his backyard was fed and loved. He enjoyed spending time with his Liberal family and they enjoyed his time with them.
He resided at Homestead Estates from June 2018 until his death in March 2021.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Irene; his brothers Bill, Bobby and Donald Rader; sisters Jacki Rader Weisert and Kay Rader Shoemaker. He is survived by one sister-in-law Sachi Rader, several nieces and nephews, and his Liberal family Arnie & Patty Rohloff and their children.
The family & friends graveside service will be held Friday, April 2, at 1:00 at the Liberal Cemetery, Liberal, Kansas.
