Jerold L. “Jerry” Lamb

Jerold L. “Jerry” Lamb – born to earthly parents, Charles “Mike” and Martha Ruth (Wilson) Lamb, Topeka, KS on May 26th, 1947 and born again, November 1981 as an adopted child of God. Jerry was called home to be with the Lord on January 16th, 2014.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Merle Lamb and Charles “Chuck” Lamb, sister-in-law Peggy Lamb, brother-in-law Doug Thorson and two nephews, Curtis Lamb and D.J. Lamb. Survivors include brothers; Don Lamb and wife Rosemary, Florissant, CO; Lauren Lamb, Alvin, TX; Dan Lamb and wife Cynthia, Littleton, CO; sister-in-law Ginny Lamb, Bolivar, MO; sons Eddie Lamb and wife Jamie, Des Moines, IA; Paul Lamb and wife Missy, Tonganoxie, KS; Toby Prine and wife Jenny, Hays, KS; daughters Heather Waldron and husband Kent, Johnson, KS; Shelley Walton and husband Jason, Johnson, KS; Nikki Esquibel and husband Charlie, Dodge City, KS; grandchildren Jessica (Lamb) Van Hemert and husband John, Codie Lamb, Makenzie Droste, Jacob Walton, Taylor Bailes, Lauren Esquibel, Emily Prine, Logan Esquibel, Aidan Waldron, Andrew Prine, Alec Walton, Hallie Waldron, Gracie Walton and Landry Waldron, one great-grandson, Gabriel Van Hemert and a new great-grandson expected on January 27th.
He grew up in the Lawrence area and attended school at Tonganoxie, KS. He was previously married to June Davis and out of this union were born Eddie and Paul Lamb. He later married Gayle (Trainer) Prine, who had four children, in Dodge City, KS on October 11th, 1979.
He worked as a Fire Captain at Ford County Fire and EMS until 1981 where he began work as a contract mail carrier with a route from Dodge City to Kansas City. He moved to Florissant, Colorado in 1996 and was owner/operator of Jerry’s Excavating, Inc. and was later employed by Ames Construction. He was most recently employed by Southwest Commodities, Garden City, until his untimely death.
He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Dodge City, KS, and attended Lake George Bible Church, Lake George, Colorado and Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church, Johnson, Kansas.
He was an active member of the Priesthood Motorcycle Ministry, led bible study groups where ever his employment took him. He was involved in jail ministry to inmates in Dodge City and Stanton County, Kansas and Teller County, Colorado.
His greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his grandchildren. He was a perpetual tinkerer and especially enjoyed woodworking, anything with wheels, antique tractor pulls, blackpowder shooting, hunting and fishing. He never met a stranger, he was infectiously jolly and his kindness and generosity was contagious to anyone he came across.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Kent Rovenstine officiating. Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday, January 20, 2014 with family present at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
