Jan Gaye (Heinson) Sims, 66, passed away Tuesday, July 20, 2021, after a long bout with dementia (PPA – Primary Progressive Aphasia).
Jan was born November 5, 1954, to Cecil G. and Ada C. (Latta) Heinson, at the Meade District Hospital.
On January 19, 1974, she married Patrick Sims at the Wee Kirk of the Valley outside of Cedarvale, Kansas. It was the 40th wedding performed at that chapel.
To this union were six children, son, Jared – Palatine, IL; daughters, Sena Hough – Meade, Ashley Sims – Kansas City, MO, Shauncey Moyers – Centralia, MO, Clair Edwards – Perryton, TX, and Josie Huey-Sims – Warrenville, IL. She was also blessed with six grandchildren, Will Sims, Zoe Sims of Palatine, Trinity Sims – Holdredge, NE, Kaleb Hough and April Hough of Meade, and Irene Moyers of Centralia, MO. She is also survived by a brother, David Heinson of Meade.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her special grandma, Ida Heinson.
She enjoyed gardening, watching birds, but her passion was reading. In lieu of flowers the family request memorial contributions to the Meade Public Library in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will be held at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Atwater Cemetery, rural Meade.
