James A. “Jim” Kepley, age 76, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Monday, June 24, 2019, at Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in Wichita, Kansas. He was born September 5, 1942, in Satanta, Kansas, the son of Edward Bryce and Helen Marjorie (King) Kepley.

Jim, a farmer, graduated from Grant County Rural High School in 1960. He served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. Jim married Linda Zellers on July 25, 1970, in Newton, Kansas. He served on the Ulysses Co-op Board and was a member of Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Jim enjoyed restoring antique tractors and family time spent with his kids and grandkids.

Jim is survived by his wife, Linda of their home; daughters, Vicky Leadbetter of Ulysses, and Jamie Clodfelter and husband Davan of Seward, Nebraska; son, Matthew Kepley and wife Claire of Ulysses; brother, David Kepley and wife Ann of Bernalillo, New Mexico; sister-in-law, Roberta Kepley of Hugoton; and five grandchildren.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Karen Kepley; and brother, Marshall Kepley.

Funeral service will be Friday, June 28, 2019, at 10:00 AM at Shelton Memorial Christian Church in Ulysses with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at Golden Cemetery with military rites by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Visitation will be Thursday, June 27, 2019, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
