James (Jim) W. Coker

James (Jim) W. Coker, age 73, passed away early Friday morning, April 10, 2020, at his Plains, Kansas, residence.
He was born November 30, 1946, at Ransom, Kansas, the son of William Harvey and Loretta Lee (Lamoree) Coker. As a young boy he attended school in Ness City, Kansas, Wakeeney, Kansas, and later at Great Bend, Kansas. A long-time area resident, moving to Plains in 2012, he was an electrical lineman.
He was a member of the Amarillo Gunfighters, and enjoyed playing online poker, and spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Jamie McDaniel and husband Luke of rural Liberal, Kansas, Thomas James (TJ) Coker of Edmond, Oklahoma, Dania Coker Carter of St. Louis, Missouri, and Cassie Coker Paden of Lahoma, Oklahoma; a brother, Fred Coker of Kyle, Texas; and a sister, Dawna Nims of Corpus Christi, Texas; thirteen grandchildren, Austin, Kel Hunter Coker, Devon Testa, Rylee McDaniel, Morgan McDaniel, Kyra Coker, Zoe Coker, Huntlynn Paden, Savannah Carter, Reiss Barley, E.J. Carter, and Caleb Barley.
He is preceded in death by his parents; a stepfather, Thomas Williamson; and a brother Richard Coker.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Cremation has taken place.
The family would welcome memorials to the charity of the donor’s choice in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
