James “Jim” Oscar Olson

James “Jim” Oscar Olson, 70, of Tyrone, OK passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2020 at the Southwest Medical Center at Liberal, Kansas.
He was born on August 30, 1949 to Arthur and Hazel (Adams) Olson at Liberal, KS.
Jim was a graduate of Liberal High School; class of 1968.
On September 1, 1968 he married Kay Gibson at Anaheim, CA; she survives.
Jim enlisted into the US Marine Corp, where he served during the Vietnam Conflict. In 1970 he returned back home where he went to work as a contract carpenter. Jim later went to work with MAPCO in 1980 as a Maintenance Technician. He retired from XTO Energy on January 5, 2009. He was active with the Boy Scouts of America, Troop 181, where he had served as Commissioner. Jim enjoyed operating his amateur Ham Radio, camping, fishing at Cimarron Canyon, NM and Canton, OK. Jim loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.
Jim is also survived by two sons, James Olson and wife Kristy of Tyrone, OK, Mike Olson of Tyrone, OK; daughter, Jamie Walters of Queen Creek, AZ; two granddaughters, Kaitlin and Amanda, four grandsons, Jimmie Ray, Tyler, Caleb and Devin; one great granddaughter, Octavia, sister, Linda Saucedo of Lawrence, KS; brother, Jerry Olson of Amarillo, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Viewing will 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm Thursday, January 30, 2020, at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, Kansas.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am on Friday, January 31, 2020, at the South Church of God, Liberal, Kansas, with Pastor Rex Petty, officiating.
Burial will take place in the Tyrone Cemetery.
