James B. Fraser, age 59, died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at his home in Elkhart, Kansas. He was born August 8, 1953 in Torrance, California, the son of Charles and Margaret (Powell) Fraser.

James spent his early years in Perris, California and later moved to Carson where he earned his GED from Carson High School. He attended trade school for wastewater control at Orange Coast College. James lived in Carson, California until 1985 when he moved to Wilmington, California. He resided there until 2009 when he moved to Elkhart, Kansas. James began his working career as a welder at Montrose Chemical Corporation and later became a wastewater treatment operator and then supervisor of the plant for the City of Carson, California. James married Bonnie Rhoads on August 21, 1982 in Torrance, California.

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie Fraser of the home; daughters, Tessa Fraser and husband Ricardo Espinoza of Elkhart, Kansas, Dena Fraser of Carson, California, Melissa Fraser of San Pedro, California, Misty Pope of California; mother, Margaret Gower of Perris, California; grandchildren, Autumn Hull, Bonnie and Terry Ross, Steven and Abel Espinoza, Ricardo Espinoza Jr., James, Catherine, Cassandra and Carilyn Pope; and two great-grandchildren, Marcus Fraser and Carter Marin.

James was preceded in death by his father, Charles Fraser; and daughter Barbara Fraser.

There will be a private family memorial service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be given to the Whistle Stop Park in care of Garnand Funeral Home, P.O. Box 854, Elkhart, KS 67950.
