James E.(Jim) Pass

MEADE – James E. (Jim) Pass, age 79, passed away Friday afternoon, August 24, 2018, at his Meade, Kansas, residence.
 
He was born October 15, 1938, at Fairburn, Georgia, the son of Edward Ernest and Lilly (Williams) Pass. As a young boy he attended school in Fairburn.  After his schooling, he joined the United States Navy, serving his country as an electrician from 1956 until 1959.  After his discharge, he began working as truck and automotive mechanic.
 
On October 3, 1959, he married Patricia Garten.  In 1981, the couple moved to Meade, where he worked as an electrician for the Meade City power plant for ten years.
 
He was a member of the American Legion and attended the Emmanuel Mennonite Church.  He enjoyed fishing, carpentry work, and spending time with his family and friends.
 
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Pat) Pass of Meade; a son, James Dale Pass (Denise) of Washington; two daughters, Lisa Johnson of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Tina Pass-Tacha (Milton) of Meade; ten grandchildren, Constance Shrewsbury (Jake), Amanda Ballbantin (Pablo), Josh Munsey, Paul Campbell (Ashley), Courtney Keith, James Pass, Jr, Jake Pass, Kyra Pass, Kyndra Pass; fourteen great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Benny and Vivien Garten; a special sister-friend, Shirlee Lynn; and many nieces and nephews.
 
He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Luther Pass and Frank Dempsey; four sisters, Martha Wallace, Lucy Ellis, Ruby Newborn, and Frances Jeffries; a granddaughter, Lillie Campbell; a son-in-law, Billy M. Johnson; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Garten.
 
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade.  In accordance to Jim’s wishes, cremation has taken place.  Inurnment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade. 
 
In lieu of flowers the family would welcome memorials to the Rheumatoid Arthritis Foundation or the American Heart Association in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
