Jacob “Jake” O. Grubb, 84, formerly of Liberal, passed from this life on Wednesday May 16, 2018 in Enid, Oklahoma, following an extended illness.
He was born November 7, 1933 to Lloyd Jacob Grubb and Edna Rider Grubb in Caernarvon Township, Pennsylvania.
Jake was a journeyman carpenter, building everything from doll houses to mansions, no project was too big or too small. He was raised and educated in Caernarvon Township, after school he enlisted in the United States Navy and served from 1952 – 1956 on the USS Intrepid in the Boat division. He was married to Doris Mae Robbins on May 20, 1967, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and in 1974 moved to Liberal, Kansas. In 1978 he began working as the maintenance and grounds supervisor for Liberal Unified School District #480 until his retirement in 1996. After retirement he continued his carpentry work. In 2015 he moved to Enid to be near his daughter.
He is survived by his daughter Joanne Oliphant and her husband Chester, of Enid; one brother Lloyd “Andy” Grubb Jr. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania and two half-brothers, James Grubb, of Denver, Pennsylvania and Donald Grubb, of Denver, Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Grubb; and his parents.
The memorial service celebrating and honoring the life of Jacob O. Grubb will be held privately.
